MADISON - The Assembly passed a slate of policing bills Wednesday that would ban chokeholds in most instances and require reporting on no-knock warrants.
Democratic Gov. Tony Evers said he planned to sign the bills but urged lawmakers to pass farther-reaching legislation as well. The people of Wisconsin are demanding systemic change and reform in our state, and there is much more work left to do, Evers said in a statement. So, while I plan to sign these bills, I am also calling on the Legislature to use this momentum and send additional comprehensive legislation to my desk.
