Toddlers now required to wear face masks in day care
Kids over the age of 2 will now be required to wear face masks while at day care and day camps, according to new guidance put out by New York state.
This announcement came the same day that fully vaccinated New Yorkers were allowed to ditch their masks while indoors, causing confusion across the board.
Throughout the entire pandemic, toddlers have not been required to wear a mask, but the state said it is now following federal guidance put out earlier this month.
“We tend to follow the federal guidelines,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said during a press conference on Thursday. “I understand the science, and I understand the data. And that s what drove the federal government to those guidelines. I also understand it is difficult on a number of levels. It s difficult for parents with one child. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo made a whopping $5.1 million off his book deal touting his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, even as his nursing home directive resulted in the deaths of thousands of residents.
During a press conference on Thursday, Cuomo was asked about “allegations out there that you made money on the backs of dead people.”
The Democrat’s decision to put COVID-19 positive patients back into long-term care facilities, with a group of people most at-risk, killed nearly 13,000 New Yorkers.
But Cuomo was having none of it, responding to the reporter with two words: “That’s stupid.” He then went on to the next question.

A new state-by-state analysis, looking hypothetically at when residents across the country are relieved of tax responsibilities within a calendar year, placed New York at the bottom of the 2021 rankings.
The Tax Foundation, a Washington, D.C.-based public policy think tank, released its annual report on each state’s so-called “tax freedom day.”
Examining tax policies and other data, Tax Foundation researchers report New York residents reached their responsibilities in 123 days, setting the state’s would-be day of freedom at May 3. By comparison, top performer Alaska reached its tax freedom day within 84 days, or March 25.
