Editorial — Every resident counts: New York state will lose a House seat based on 2020 census

According to information from the U.S. Census Bureau, the size of an average American household is 2.53 people. The Census Bureau also says that New York state came 89 residents short of retaining all its seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, based on the 2020 census. This means that had at least 36 more households provided the necessary data on last year’s census, we as a state could have maintained the status quo. The moratorium was first passed in May of last year, early in the COVID-19 pandemic, in an effort to assist tenants who were impacted economically by the coronavirus outbreak.

The first will repeal the much mocked rule that has forced bar patrons to purchase food with their alcoholic beverages. Another resolution repeals various rules concerning health care providers, such as one requiring them to administer vaccines within one week of receiving them. A third proposal will make people like former Secretary to the Governor Larry Schwartz
