Ineligible individuals who are in possession of priority category ration cards will have a one-month grace period for surrendering them.
Card holders who are unfairly getting subsidised commodities will be given time till June 30 to surrender their cards, Food and Civil Supplies Minister G. R. Anil said on Saturday. During this period, they will not be fined or subjected to other penalty, Mr. Anil said.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said the COVID-19 situation in the State is declining but asked the people to exercise caution as the situation is still not completely satisfactory.
As many as 28,798 new cases of COVID-19 were detected today from 1,44,372 sample tests in the last 24 hours with a test positivity rate of 19.95 per cent.
This is the first time the test positivity rate is falling below 20 per cent in more than a month, Vijayan told reporters here.

The Legal Metrology department cracked down on errant traders in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts after receiving a series of complaints from customers and farmers.
Deputy Controller N. Janardana Rao, Assistant Controller S.M. Radhakrishna and senior officials conducted inspections at petrol bunks, pharmacies, supermarkets, Rythu Bazaars, dry fruit shops, fish markets and meat shops. Underweighing, short measurement, sale of commodities at prices more than MRP, and other frauds came to light during the inspections conducted for the last one month.
“Many traders are indulging in malpractices as customers are in a hurry with the limited trade hours due to curfew which begins at 12 noon every day. We filed 77 cases and collected ₹3,36,500 as penalty in the last few weeks,” Mr. Janardana Rao said.
