Growing up as the son of immigrants and a DACA recipient, Juan Carlos Estrada RLAW ’21 understands firsthand the injustices and harsh working conditions that immigrants have endured in the United States. Estrada, a graduate of the University of Texas in San Antonio, was inspired to go to law school, in part to help the Latinx community.
“Today, the Latino population is one of the fastest-growing and youngest ethnic groups in the country, but we continue to be disproportionately disadvantaged and underrepresented,” he wrote in his application.

On September 7, 2013, an off-duty Chicago police officer named Kenneth Walker was working security at a public housing project when he got into a scuffle with a visitor and shot him. “He’s bleeding from the chest, it’s probably critical,” Walker told a 911 dispatcher.

The operator told Walker to cover the wound and keep the man calm. But Walker made no move to help him, security video shows, even as blood began to pool on the sidewalk. Neither did any of the officers who soon arrived on the scene. Instead they stood over Marlon Horton as he gasped for air.
45 Best Punk Albums of 2020
I think it goes without saying how insane of a year 2020 was, but there were things to be grateful for too, and one of those things is the incredible amount of great punk records that came out this year. Aside from the fact that so many of these albums had messages that resonated strongly this year, it was inspiring to see how the punk community came together during some of the toughest times, even in a year where we couldn t get together physically. Throughout the whole year, this vast community protested, amplified voices, launched fundraisers, and helped support so many people, and released a lot of great music in the process. I tried to narrow down the best of it to 45 albums and EPs, but it wasn t easy. Countless great records came out this year under the punk umbrella, and even stopping at 45 meant leaving out some great ones.

Black Lives Matter signs outside of several historic Black churches in Washington D.C. were burned and destroyed during a pro-Trump rally over the weekend.
The two churches that had their signs burned were Asbury United Methodist Church, founded in 1836, and Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, founded in 1886. D.C. police are investigating the incidents as possible hate crimes.
The protest was a response to the Supreme Court tossing a Texas lawsuit pushing for the changing of election results in five swing states, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania
