This isn t the first time the controversy around the anthem Lift Every Voice and Sing is rearing its head. Back in July 2020, we reported how a similar plan leaked and was widely slammed on the Internet. Despite the criticism, it appears the NFL is ready to try again, but a little differently this time.

Anthem before tentpole games
Front Office Sports was the first to break the news, based on a source within the league. According to the report, the league will make Lift Every Voice and Sing a prominent part of all league events. So far, the report confirmed the game will be played before the NFL Kickoff game on September 9 between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys. It will also feature at other key NFL events, like the Super Bowl, NFL Playoffs, and NFL Draft.

Tamika Mallory is calling Thursday’s arrest of Congressional Black Caucus Chair Joyce Beatty and others “a true act of solidarity” as Black women convened on Capitol Hill to press U.S. senators to pass voting rights legislation.
Police officers on the Hill arrested 10 Black women in the Senate Hart Building including Democratic Rep. Beatty of Ohio and
Melanie Campbell of the Black Women’s Roundtable. The women were transported to Capitol police holding in vans. Their jail conditions included a community toilet in the cell resembling those of county lockups across the country.

Biden blasts ‘un-American’ voting limits; Texas Dems act
Philadelphia, July 14, 2021 President Joe Biden declared preserving voting rights an urgent national “test of our time” on Tuesday but offered few concrete proposals to meet it. Texas Democrats took their own dramatic action to stymie Republican efforts to tighten ballot restrictions in their state.
Biden, who has proclaimed protecting ballot access the central cause of his presidency, has faced sharp criticism from allies for not doing more, though political headwinds and stubborn Senate math have limited his ability to act. Despite his ringing words Tuesday, he avoided any mention of trying to alter the Senate filibuster rule that stands in the path of federal legislation.
