A number of household name fund managers across all asset classes now call Jersey home, with others in advanced stages of planning to follow them into Jersey. Earlier this month, Pittsburgh enacted “An Ordinance providing for special conditions for the operation and use of Paid Sick leave under the Paid Sick Days Act during and due to the crisis presented by COVID-19” (the “Ordinance”) by adding a new Chapter to the Pittsburgh Code of Ordinances: Temporary Emergency COVID-19 Paid Sick Leave (“COVID-19 Sick Time”). The Ordinance provides covered individuals with paid leave for certain COVID-19 related absences. While the covered absences under the Ordinance are similar to absences covered under the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”), Pittsburgh’s COVID-19 Sick Time will remain available for use after the FFCRA’s current December 31, 2020 sunset date.
The Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam recently provided updated regulations on the signed authorisation required to register IP rights in Vietnam, which affect both foreign and local rights owners and applicants. The requirements constitute a more stringent approach towards the authorisation of representatives and the documentation associated with the IP rights registration process. However, for Vietnam's IP regime as a whole, this new approach represents a step in the right direction.
