The Council of Europe’s
HELP programme (Human rights Education for Legal Professionals) has launched a new online course on the
environment and human rights.
The six-hour course, which is available free of charge via the HELP online platform, has been developed by experts on the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Social Charter – which have already formed the legal basis of hundreds of environment-related cases – with input from the EU’s Fundamental Rights Agency and others.
The course covers key legal concepts related to protecting the environment, the main elements of a human rights-based approach to environmental protection, “green” human rights in different regional systems and the issue of environmental degradation and corporate accountability.
HELP course on child-friendly justice launched for police in the Republic of Moldova

On 23 April 2021 the Council of Europe project “Combating violence against children in the Republic of Moldova” and the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) launched the HELP online course on child-friendly justice. The HELP course is implemented in cooperation with the Academy “Stefan cel Mare” and General Inspectorate of Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.
The course will last 2 months and will be implemented for two groups of participants: 50 students/master students of the Academy “Stefan cel Mare” and 56 police officers nominated by the General Inspectorate of Police

New HELP online course on Protection and Safety of Journalists is now available in Albanian, Bosnian, Macedonian, Montenegrin and Serbian.
Secretariat members from the Council of Europe’s
Platform for the Protection of Journalism and Safety of Journalists, the Office of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, and from the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights have also contributed to the development of this course.

The new Council of Europe HELP (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals) course on The Environment and Human Rights is now available on the HELP online platform.
The course was developed by two experts, including a senior lawyer from the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights. Representatives of the Fundamental Rights Agency of the European Union, the Council of Europe Department of the European Social Charter, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Secretariat of the Partial Agreement EUR-OPA, as well as Council of Europe staff members working on cooperation activities, also contributed to the development of the course.
