The two sides indulged in verbal clash on the issue before the House admitted the adjournment motion for discussion. “The government has dropped a bomb on the already inflation-stricken masses,” the adjournment motion moved by Naveed Qamar said, adding that the government’s decision would further increase inflation in the country. The adjournment motion pointed out that due to incompetence of the government, the circular debt has increased to Rs 2.3 trillion and is still rising.

Government receives 20$ as service charges on visa extension: NA informed Islamabad, January 26, 2021 (PPI-OT): Responding to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Sher Akbar Khan in the National Assembly, Parliamentary Secretary on Interior Shaukat Ali said the government only receives 20 dollars as service charges on visa extension under a uniform policy. He said the government has established an online visa issuance facility and now it is available for extension of visa as well. He said people from all over the world, except from two countries, can benefit from this online visa facility. Four bills were introduced in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

• Senior lawyer denies allegations Tobi Soniyi Seplat Petroleum Development Company has asked the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) and the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to sanction a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Kunle Ogunba, for alleged gross misconduct and unethical practices contrary to the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2007. In the petition to the LPPC, which was equally copied to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, the company accused Ogunba of violating Rules 1, 15, 24, 30 and 32 of the Rules of Professional Conduct 2007 and urged sanctions against the senior advocate in line with paragraph 55 of the Rules of Professional Conduct.
