Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) is in a dispute with its labour union over who should act as administrators and execute the company s debt-rehabilitation programme.
THAI s PR department has announced that its rehabilitation managers have nominated its independent director, Piyasvasti Amranand, and the company s second vice chairman, Chakkrit Parapuntakul, to execute the survival plan.
However, the ailing flagship carrier s labour union has also written to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to recommend Pirapan Salirathavibhaga for the job, since the Finance Ministry is the airline s majority shareholder and therefore has a say in key appointments.

Funds needed under debt revamp plan

Thai Airways International (THAI) says it plans to raise about 50 billion baht over the next two years as the financially struggling flag carrier submitted its business rehabilitation plan on Tuesday.
Chai Eamsiri, acting executive vice president of THAI s Finance and Accounting Department, said an initial amount of 30 billion baht must be raised by June this year to pay for operational costs and compensation for employees who have resigned.
The funds may be sought by borrowing from financial institutions, seeking investment allies or through a debt-to-equity conversion, he said.
