It came a little more than a month after he was ousted as speaker. Michael J. Madigan was already the former Illinois House speaker, but on Feb. 18 he said he will become a former state representative by resigning at the end of the month. Madigan, 78, served 36 years as Illinois’ House speaker before he was voted out on Jan. 13 by House Democrats. He has served 50 years as a state representative of the 22nd Illinois House district, which surrounds Midway Airport near Chicago.
