The Bahraini Cabinet approved amendments to the press, printing and publishing law, scrapping the provision of the law pertaining to jailing journalists. Besides the abolition of jailing journalists, the new amendments include adding a major section on digital media, regulating websites and the accounts of media institutions in the new amended publishing law. The amendments included new definitions and terms that keep pace with the development experienced by the media industry. The new law prohibits calls for national, racial and religious hatred that incites discrimination, hostility, violence or terrorism.
