Dozens named in the most comprehensive roster published to date of who will be running DOD when the president-elect is sworn in.
Editor’s Note: Following additional reporting, Defense One has learned that six of the individuals named as part of the planning documents, Halimah Najieb-Locke, Carrie Kagawa, Seth Schuster, Susanna Blume, Tarun Chhabra and Tanya Bradsher, were named to the incorrect postings on the Pentagon s list. Some of these individuals are under consideration for roles outside the DOD. Chhabra and Bradsher have already been publicly named for a role on Biden s NSC. Those names have been removed from the list below for clarity’s sake.

The session kicked off Jan. 11, with lawmakers sworn in for another term at the State Capitol in Little Rock.

President-elect Joe Biden has chosen Jewel Hairston Bronaugh, Virginiaâs commissioner of agriculture and consumer services, to serve as deputy secretary of agriculture in his administration.
Bronaugh, a former agriculture dean at Virginia State University, would become the first African American to serve in the position. Her appointment could help Biden overcome public reservations Black farmers expressed over his appointment of Tom Vilsack as agriculture secretary, the same role the former Iowa governor held for two terms under President Barack Obama.

Ralph Northam, who appointed Bronaugh as state agriculture commissioner in May 2018, said she has been âa true leader â promoting the agencyâs core missioner while taking on new challenges, including our COVID-19 pandemic response and farmer mental health, focusing economic development to improve food access in underserved communities, and engaging youth in
Tom Gale, CRS, GRI, has been installed as the president of Cape Fear Realtors (CFR) for 2021. Gale is a recognized community leader, currently serving as a member on the New Hanover County and City of Wilmington Joint Workforce Housing Committees.
Gale’s previous involvement with CFR has been extensive, having served on the Government Affairs Committee, Community Affairs Committee, and Recruiting & Certifying Committee. His service is not limited to the local level, he’s also served on committees for NC Realtors, including the Strategic Planning, Legislative Affairs, and Forms Committees.
Gale is a strong advocate for affordable housing and has been certified as a Workforce Housing Specialist. Gale has announced the association will be sponsoring and building a home with their community partner, Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity.

Emphasizing that health and education are closely related, the Department of Education (DepEd) has partnered with Nestlé Philippines Inc. (NPI) to further promote a healthy lifestyle among Filipino children.
In a virtual Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signing ceremony held early last week, Education Secretary Leonor Briones emphasized that health and education are closely related, citing DepEd’s joint programs with the Department of Health (DoH) on child nutrition and health.
“This is because we all know that an unhealthy child cannot learn as much (as) one who is healthy, well-fed, and given nutritionally sufficient assistance, especially for those who cannot afford the expense of maintaining healthy children,” Briones said.
