Protesting Indian farmers December 20, 2020 Indian PM Modi seems to have acquired the tainted touch, so whatever he touches becomes undesirable. Whether it is the demonetisation decision, the Citizenship Amendment Act, and the scrapping of Article 70 that guaranteed autonomy to the Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir state, and now a set of laws concerning the agriculture sector, which farmers from all over the country are opposing. After getting more into trouble due to the Kashmir misadventure, the farmers’ protest has become the proverbial albatross around Modi’s neck. Protesters have been camping around New Delhi blocking roads leading to the national capital since Dec 8. Farmers are determined to continue their agitation till repeal of the contentious laws. They are braving the cold winter wind camping in tents. news Compensation for ‘war crime’ victims sought News Desk © Provided by Daily Times(PK) The civil society in Pakistan has expressed its shock over findings of Afghanistan inquiry report, compiled by Maj Gen Justice Paul Brereton, Inspector General of the Australian Defence Force. The report has found that Australian Special Forces were involved in killing of 39 Afghan civilians. Last week, the civil society activists and students held a protest against this act in front of the National Press Club in Islamabad. They demanded that the international community remove Australia from NATO, in addition to a UN-led probe into the matter. They also demanded that the victim families be paid $1 million compensation each and a chance to study in Australia.
