That s putting it lightly.
The Crescenta Valley (CA) High School senior clocked a new U.S. No. 1 time in the 3,200m on Saturday at the Laguna Beach Distance Carnival, producing a time of 9:52.23.
She was nearly a minute ahead of the field.
The performance marked her first time under 10 minutes for the distance and it is now No. 4 in California history, just behind Kim Mortensen (9:48.59), Bethan Knights (9:50.10) and Jordan Hasay (9:52.13).
She s also now just the eighth Californian to ever go under 10 minutes.
But Barnett is no stranger to the national rankings, having already owned the U.S. No. 1 time in the 1,600m and mile with her performances of 4:41.32 (en route) and 4:43.11 at the Sundown Track Series #3 on Mar. 27.

The first installment of the Sundown Track Series on Saturday night in Queens Creek, Arizona, led to some fast times and some wild finishes on the track.
In particular, it included a furious late rally from a Newbury Park senior in the boys mile.
Colin Sahlman captured a big personal record time, an early US No. 1 effort and an impressive sub-4:10 peformance as he came through the finish line in 4:09.86, hammering down the final 200 meters with confidence.
Sahlman s mile was a little over a second off of Nico Young s school record od 4:08.82, which the current NAU freshman achieved in 2019 at the APU Meet of Champions.
