Kondagaon (Chattisgarh) [India], February 7 (ANI): The children trained by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) from Chhattisgarh s Kondagaon in Judo have received 112 medals in various national-level tournaments.
According to a release by ITBP, it has trained 500 schoolchildren of Naxal-affected Kondagaon district in various sports including Hockey, Judo, and Archery since 2016. Two jawans of the Battalion have been training some 200 local boys and girls in Judo in 4 batches daily for about 5 hours. The groups include the children & youth from 5 years and 21 years of age, it said.
Deputy sarpanch in Chattisgarh killed by naxals

Raipur, Jan 25: A deputy sarpanch was killed by Naxals in Chhattisgarh s Kondagaon district, over 200 kilometres from state capital Raipur, police said on Monday.
The incident took place late Saturday evening in Permapal village under Bayanar police station limits when the victim, identified as Bajjaram Korram, was in his house with his family, an official said.

As per preliminary information, over a dozen ultras stormed into the house of Korram, deputy sarpanch of Permapal, dragged him out, thrashed him and strangled him, the official said. They accused him of working against the interests of the local people. The village is located deep inside a forest along the Kondagaon-Narayanpur inter-district border, he said.

In another initiative taken by the ITBP in Naxal affected Chhattisgarh s Kondagaon district, the Force has started organising internet-based classes for local schoolchildren, ITBP said. The classes have been started for remotely located village children in Naxalism infested area Hadeli and adjoining peripheral villages in District Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh. These classes are organised by ITBP jawans of 41st Battalion of the Force only to enhance the student s knowledge taking the help of audio online visuals.
