However, in the state, as of now 3 deaths have been reported. In Jalgaon in north Maharashtra, two people died and another was injured after a tree fell on a hut. The third death is reported from Uran in the Raigad district, where a woman was killed and another one was seriously injured when a wall of the Ram temple collapsed.

This comes two days after Prime Minister Modi had reviewed the preparedness to deal with the cyclone s fallout in a high-level meeting which was attended by several ministries and agencies concerned. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister Office (CMO) Maharashtra informed that Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts are on orange alert while Raigad district has been put on red alert due to Cyclone Tauktae.

Mumbai s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to remain shut till 8 pm due to cyclone Tauktae

May 17, 2021, 18:28 PM IST Mumbai: The city s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), which had earlier decided to keep all operations shut till 4 pm on Monday in view of the cyclone alert, has now extended the closure period to 8 pm. “As the result of the cyclone alert, the closure of the operations at the airport has now been further extended till 2000 hours (8pm) on May 17,” CSMIA said in its latest operations update, according to news agency PTI. After announcing the suspension of all flight service at the facility from 11 am to 2 pm, initially, the private airport later extended it to 4 pm.
