The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai, India, has started penalising Covid-19 safety protocol violators as the country battles to contain the second wave of coronavirus.
The move follows a directive issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that called for stricter action against violators at airports.

As per a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) directive, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has decided to levy a fine of ₹1,000 on any individual found violating the mandatory Covid-19 safety protocols at the airport. It has already come into effect.
It said that Mumbai airport is offering the regular RT-PCR test at a reduced cost of Rs 600 as against Rs 850 earlier from April 1 to the passengers opting to avail the facility at the airport.
