This weekend marks the 45th annual Meeting Street Telethon with WPRI-12. Fun 107 has been thrilled to be a part of this important telethon. For years now, we ve kicked off the Telethon weekend with a Radiothon live from Sunrise Bakery and Coffee Shop in Dartmouth. When Manny Amaral and his sister Louise first heard about the Fun 107 Radiothon, they jumped right on it, inviting the morning show to broadcast from their Dartmouth Street location and agreeing to donate 50 percent of their sales while we were there.
We ve been going there each year since, and every year the Fun 107 audience has generously donated thousands to support the resources at the Schwartz School and Meeting Street.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Some state lawmakers are pushing to expand schools of choice in South Carolina under a new designation called âschools of innovation.â
Schools of innovation are funded and run through partnerships with public school districts and private companies or contributors. However, some opponents worry these efforts will hurt students in public schools that are already struggling for more resources.
Many supporters of this expansion of public and private partnerships for schools look to Charleston County School Districtâs Meeting Street schools as shining examples.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Multiple crews were reported at the scene of an early-morning fire in North Charleston.
The crews were reportedly parked around 3100 Meeting Street Road, right before the intersection with Taft Street.
Reports say the crews have put out a “heavily involved” commercial building fire in the area and all fire and police crews have left the scene.
The North Charleston Fire Department, Charleston Fire Department and the St. Andrews Fire Department were all reported on the scene.
