A New Brunswick-based company is opening a seasonal flight school at Goose Bay airport this summer.
MFC Training, operating in partnership with Air Borealis, is offering private and recreational pilot training, as well as discovery flights for people who have never flown before.
When contacted by
SaltWire about the school, the company said as a central location in Labrador with considerable aviation infrastructure in place, Goose Bay Airport is an “excellent, accessible option” and they’re looking forward to working more with Air Borealis to attract local and Indigenous students.

Valance Job Oliver, a man well known for community activities in central Labrador that included playing Santa Claus, was sentenced Thursday to 15 months in jail for possessing child pornography.
Judge Rolf Pritchard issued the sentence during a hearing at provincial court in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
NATUASHISH, N.L. Police in northern Labrador are investigating the discovery of human remains inside a burning vehicle. The RCMP in Natuashish say they responded to a complaint Friday night that several abandoned vehicles had been set on fire behind the band council garage. Once the fire was extinguished, human remains were found in one of the burned-out wrecks. The province s chief medical examiner has been called in to identify the remains and determine the cause of death. The Mounties are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the RCMP. The coastal community about 300 kilometres north of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is home to about 800 Innu residents. It is accessible only by plane or boat.
