Chilcotin s Chilko Lake to be featured on season 8 of the History Channel s Alone

SHARE ON: Chilko Lake (supplied by Bear Camp) The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association (CCCTA) is hoping the Chilko Lake’s TV appearance will draw tourists to the area. Chilko Lake was the filming location for “Alone”, a survival show in which participants brave the elements, wildlife, and isolation to win a $500,000 prize. CCCTA Director of Marketing Sydney Redpath says the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast is known for wide-open spaces, iconic landscapes, and magnificent wildlife, and Chilko Lake was chosen for all of those reasons. “It’s a great opportunity for us to show that people can actually travel here and do it safely, regardless of your wilderness and backcountry expertise,” Redpath says.

Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism saw plenty of interest in 2020 SHARE ON: The Cariboo-Chilcotin-Coast Tourism Association (CCCTA) is reporting success in 2020 despite COVID-19. According to a report from Director of Marketing Sydney Redpath, the CCCTA had nearly 72 million impressions, including 2.25 million television impressions and 244 thousand website impressions. Redpath also reports the CCCTA’s website user numbers are up 133.27 percent from 2019. Overall, the CCCTA also had more domestic overnight visitors than anywhere else in BC as well. August was the busy month in 2020, for Canadian visitors in the Cariboo as usual. Around 78,000 visitors were in the Cariboo during that month.
