Posted On 0 likes 1 min The Johnson County Commissioners and the Buffalo City Council will hold separate special meetings tomorrow afternoon to consider the Johnson County Community Improvement Project that would provide upgrades and continued service to nine “taxpayer-owned” properties within Johnson County, the City of Buffalo, and the Town of Kaycee. If the project is considered favorably, the council may pass a resolution, proposing a 1% specific purpose excise tax in Johnson County and the issuance of general obligation bonds, for the purpose of funding specific projects in Johnson County. Garage sale fee could be dropped | News, Sports, Jobs

manich@leaderherald.com JOHNSTOWN The city may do away with fees charged to city residents for holding garage sales in their own yards, after May 17. The Common Council will consider a resolution that night to get rid of the $2.50 fee currently charged by the City Clerk’s Office to conduct a garage sale at their home. Residents would still have to get a garage sale permit, but it would be free. “We weren’t collecting a ton of money,” City Clerk Carrie Allen said Thursday. She said the original idea for a fee was to prevent people from holding yearlong garage sales.
