State of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Fashion Report
, a review of racial equity in the fashion industry. The findings are sourced from a study done by McKinsey & Company, which surveyed 1,000 industry professionals in 41 companies, 20 stakeholders, and three focus groups with college students and burgeoning designers. In other words, we re getting down to the numbers on some key issues in the fashion industry.
Drawing from the research, the CFDA and PVH Corp. have spotlighted six targets: compensation, belonging, advocacy, promotion, awareness, and access. These key areas will be used as a foundation to help advocate for the representation and career advancement of underrepresented groups across all sectors of the fashion industry.

Following a year marked by national unrest over racial inequity, a number of retailers, fashion groups and footwear brands are taking a new approach to celebrating Black History Month.
Beyond product launches and collaborations with Black talent, companies like Gap, Neiman Marcus and Walmart are upping the ante on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives by donating millions of dollars in product and funds to nonprofits, addressing representation within their own organizations and committing to allocate shelf space for Black-owned brands, among other moves.

As the official chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Tom Ford has announced the American Collections Calendar, which allows for a more flexible show schedule, so designers can reveal their new lines at any time specifically, on the CFDA s virtual platform Runway360. The American Collections Calendar will be released twice a year, and you ll see brands on the list under release dates that do not fall within February s pre-determined New York Fashion Week (February 14 to 17). Christian Siriano, LaQuan Smith, Prabal Gurung, Coach 1941, and Oscar de la Renta are among the fashion houses showing before or after the official NYFW dates.
