CCI approves 2017 census, next to be conducted by 2023

The Council of Common Interest approved on Monday the 2017 census and decided to complete the next population count of Pakistan before the 2023 elections.
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar explained the decision: there was only one item on the CCIâs agenda and that was taking a final decision on the 2017 census.

Pakistan to have new Population Census in 2021

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Council of Common Interest (CCI) has decided to hold a new Population Census in the Country in 2021 to address concerns of smaller provinces, especially Sindh.
Briefing media in Islamabad on Monday after the CCI meeting held in Islamabad with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Chair, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar told that the new Population Census will be held in 2021 instead of waiting for 10 years, and its framework will be ready in the next six to seven months to ensure transparency and to take all stakeholders into confidence over the matter.
Uniform product standards by CCI lauded

Islamabad: TheNetwork for Consumer Protection has lauded the decision of the Council of Common Interest (CCI) to have uniform product standards for whole country, making Pakistan competitive in the growing global e-commerce.
TheNetwork was referring to an official statement released after the conclusion of 44th meeting of the CCI which said: “In order to further improve ease of doing business and harmonization of quality and standards across the country, it was decided that provinces will notify harmonized standards set by Pakistan Standard & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) by repealing their own standards. It was also agreed that harmonization of standards, standardized labelling and certification marks logo would remain exclusive domain of PSQCA.”
Investment in family planning programmes termed integral to achieve growth

Islamabad : Investment in family planning is strategic and has far-reaching implications to achieve a sustainable population growth rate in Pakistan. Cohesive actions are required at the federal and provincial levels to improve family planning programs.
This was stated by Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination in his keynote remarks at a consultative meeting held online.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Faisal Sultan also said the Council of Common Interest (CCI) recommendations provide a comprehensive framework for the federal and provincial governments to stabilize population growth.
