Up to 20 of the packages were allegedly discovered across the Northern California town. Police said no perpetrators have been identified in this incident or a similar distribution that occurred years prior, according to news reports. A federal court ordered U.S. Customs and Border Protection to produce records showing its Seattle field office purposely targeted people of Iranian, Lebanese and Palestinian descent for questioning after a U.S. drone killed a high-ranking Iranian military leader in January.
The backstory: The disclosure Tuesday comes nearly a year after border agents at Washington state ports of entry held hundreds of travelers, including dozens of American citizens with ties to Iran, for questioning after Qassem Soleimani, the leader of Iran’s elite paramilitary forces, was killed on Jan. 2.
