Council members have shared those concerns at recent meetings and in interviews, acknowledging they’ve turned to police, one reporting alleged death threats. In a particularly bizarre case, a council member reported someone placing a dried pig fetus outside his business. It’s unclear if it was related to his work on council.

City Council voted unanimously this week to direct city staff to explore the possibility of an alternative development at 2857 Packard Road. Officials are interested in a new proposal from Thrive Collaborative, which has approached the property owner about purchasing a portion of the site to do a five-story sustainable housing development called The Canopy, while the city could acquire and preserve the surrounding forested area.

Matt Bradish, owner of Underground Sounds, applied for a liquor license under the name Up From the Skies LLC for the shop’s space at 210 S Main St. in Ann Arbor, to create a café, tavern and vinyl retail-style space, city records show. The shop occupies the former Peaceable Kingdom space. City Council on Monday, March 1 approved the request, which needs approval from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.

New apartments for University of Michigan students coming to Ann Arbor’s Main Street Updated Feb 17, 2021; Facebook Share ANN ARBOR, MI Plans for a new 36-bed apartment building catering to University of Michigan students are now approved for development on Ann Arbor’s Main Street. City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night, Feb. 16, to OK the project at 907 and 913 S. Main St. “We are seeking to break ground late spring or early summer with the goal of completion prior to July 2022,” said Satch Chada of New York City-based Nest Capital Management LLC, the UM alumnus behind the project. Two rental houses are to be demolished and replaced by a three-story building with six six-bedroom apartments.
