Latta recognized for votes against government waste
BOWLING GREEN – Ohio Congressman Bob Latta, R-Bowling Green, was named a “Taxpayer Super Hero” by the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste for his votes to cut wasteful government spending in 2020. Latta scored 100% on their scorecard for the second consecutive year.
The council released its 2020 Congressional Ratings, highlighting the voting records of all 535 voting members of Congress during the last session of the 116th Congress. The report, which the council has issued since 1989, identifies members whose voting records helped protect taxpayer dollars, as well as those who consistently voted against their interests.

North Carolina’s junior U.S. senator and seven of the Republicans who served in the last Congress earn “Taxpayer Super Hero” ratings. That’s according to the latest calculations from the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste.
The group’s 2020 Congressional Ratings, released this month, name Sen. Thom Tillis as one of 10 Senate “Taxpayer Super Heroes.” That means Tillis earned a perfect score of 100 on 11 votes the council graded last year.
Seven N.C. representatives were among the 80 members of the U.S. House of Representatives to earn “Taxpayer Super Hero” status. They scored 100 on 35 votes the council monitored in 2020.
Dear Chairman Wyden, Chairman Neal, Ranking Member Crapo, and Ranking Member Brady:
On behalf of the undersigned taxpayer, free-market, and consumer advocacy organizations, we ask you to prioritize and pass a number of tax relief measures this year that will aid in America’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Pro-growth tax policy that boosts GDP, jobs, and wages should be a legislative priority at any time but has taken on an added importance as policymakers look to help businesses and workers return to the economic gains of the pre-COVID U.S. economy.
Specifically, we hope your Committees and Congressional leadership will prioritize the following this year:

Dear Members of Congress,
We, the undersigned organizations representing millions of Americans nationwide highly concerned by our country’s unsustainable fiscal trajectory, write in support of the Maximizing America’s Prosperity (MAP) Act, to be introduced by Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) and Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.). As we stare down a mounting national debt of over $28 trillion, the MAP Act presents a long-term solution to our ever-worsening spending patterns by implementing a Swiss-style debt brake that would prevent large budget deficits and increased national debt.
Since the introduction of the MAP Act in the 116th Congress, our national debt has increased by more than 25 percent, totaling six trillion dollars higher than the $22 trillion we faced less than two years ago in July of 2019. Similarly, nearly 25 percent of all U.S. debt accumulated since the inception of our country has come since the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
