2018 Act gives COREN powers to conduct holistic investigation -Council President

By Mashe Umaru Gwamna The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) said that the 2018 amended Act has invested the Council with powers to conduct holistic investigation in the sector. The President of the council,Engr. Ali Rabiu made the disclosure during an interactive session with members of the Infrastructure and Property Correspondents of Nigeria (PICAN) in Abuja at the weekend. Rabiu stated that the Council has the powers to investigate licensed engineers and non-engineers who engage in engineering businesses that resulted in infrastructures failures. He said with the investigations conducted by the council it show that most building collapses across the country have been found to be handiworks of quacks.

Edo begins recruitment of 1,400 professionals into civil service

NSE moves to tackle quackery in the engineering profession Edo State Government will today commence recruitment of over 1,400 professionals into the junior, graduate, and experienced cadres of the state’s civil service. x State Head of Service (HoS), Anthony Okungbowa, in a statement, yesterday, said the recruitment exercise was part of the ongoing transformation of the state’s civil service and a pillar in Governor Godwin Obaseki’s Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) agenda. He said the recruitment would bring over 1,400 professionals into the service at the junior, graduate, and experienced categories in several disciplines of the service. ALSO, the University of Benin Centre for Global Eco-Innovation Nigeria has urged the government to embrace environmentally friendly programmes and development of technologies for clean and sustainable growth.

Flour Mills Appoints Boye Olusanya New CEO

Emmanuel Addeh in Abuja Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, a leading integrated food business and agro-allied group and owners of the Golden Penny brand, has announced the appointment of Mr. Omoboyede Olusanya as its new Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2021. A statement by the Company Secretary and Director, Legal Services, Mr Joseph Umolu, said Olusanya, who joined FMN in January 2020 as Group Chief Operating Officer, has been a core member of the executive management team. The statement added that Olusanya was admitted to the Board of Directors since July 2020 and will take over from Mr. Paul Gbededo, who is retiring after 38 years of service to the group.
