ATHENS - Military service in Greece, which is compulsory for males over 19 unless they can find a way to get out of it will now be one year instead of nine months for most service.
The New Democracy government is planning to extend the time, said Kathimerini, except for those who are serving along the border with Turkey or on the Aegean islands, a number of them close to Turkey’s border.
