Washington [US], February 27 (ANI): The findings of recent research have suggested that people with developmental disabilities don't exercise as often as their typically developed peers. In an effort to close this disparity, a researcher at the University of Missouri recently created fitness picture books that help youth with autism exercise more frequently.

Biodegradable microcapsules guide neuronal development by delivering nerve growth factor ANI | Updated: Feb 21, 2021 17:36 IST
Moscow [Russia], February 21 (ANI): Researchers from Skoltech and their colleagues have demonstrated that nanoengineered biodegradable microcapsules can guide the development of hippocampal neurons in an in-vitro experiment. These microcapsules play a critical role in nerve growth factor, a peptide that is necessary for neuron growth.
The findings of the study were published in the journal Pharmaceutics. Many neurodegenerative conditions that can lead to severe disorders are associated with depleted levels of growth factors in the brain - neuropeptides that help neurons grow, proliferate and survive.
Some clinical studies of Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases have shown that delivering these growth factors to specific degenerating neurons can have a therapeutic effect.
