India today reported 18,327 fresh coronavirus cases and the tally has climbed to 1,11,92,088, while the number of recoveries has surged to 1,08,54,128, the Union health ministry said on Saturday.
Accusing the governments that ruled India for decades since Independence of neglecting Assam and the northeast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the region.

A total of 1.08 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered till now with 1.86 lakh jabs given today, the Union Health Ministry said. Of the 1,08,38,323 doses administered, Joint Secretary in the Union Health ministry Mandeep Bhandari said 72,26,653 vaccination doses were administered to healthcare workers and 36,11,670 to frontline workers whose inoculation started on February 2. India s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 1,09,63,394 with 13,193 new infections being reported in a day, while the recoveries have surged to 1,06,67,741, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday. The deaths increased to 1,56,111 with 97 daily new fatalities, the data showed.
As per the Health Ministry, 98,46,523 vaccine doses were given through 2,10,809 sessions till Thursday evening.
