Community Foundation Announces New Funding Strategy
The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties is announcing a new funding strategy to meet rising community needs this year.
Local non-profits will have six months, from April through September, to share their needs and requests for funding on an ongoing basis.
“What we’re putting in place is an enhanced two-way engagement model that will advance beyond the traditional grant application cycles that community funders have used for generations,” President and CEO Alicia Dicks said. “While we reach out to our partners more than ever throughout the year, nonprofit organizations will have a full six months, from April through September, to actively engage with us via an online tool that will speed up review of and response to their requests for support.”
Community invited to participate in virtual town hall on racial equity, police reform
The College-Community Partnership for Racial Justice will hold a live virtual town hall event Thursday at 7 p.m., to discuss results of a local public opinion survey on police reform.

This presentation follows a web series launched by the group in the fall, examining current law enforcement policies and procedures and how to improve them.

A tractor-trailer full of food will be available to the community Monday and Tuesday, January 25th and 26th. Food items may include chicken, fish, eggs, cheese, fresh produce, fresh fruit, rice, pasta, cereal, canned items such as soup, beans, etc.

Johnson Park Center helps those struggling to feed themselves and their family with food giveaways - rain, snow, or shine, and everyone s invited to participate.
Starting on the corner of Arthur and West Streets, cars/vehicles will line up at the registration station where JPC Intake Persons, wearing face masks, will assist you with completing the Intake Form. They will place the number of households represented in each car on its windshield. Then you will drive up to each Food station, where volunteers will put the food in your car/vehicle.

To support these needs, MetLife Foundation has announced a $150,000 contribution to the fund.
