Kincardine has a new municipal councillor to fill the vacant position in Ward 3.
At its meeting Wednesday (Jan 6th) council appointed Dorne C. Fitzsimmons to the position.
A release from the municipality says the seat had been left vacant by the appointment of Randy Roppel to the position of Deputy Mayor after that seat was left vacant by the passing of Marie Wilson.
Ten candidates filed all necessary papers and declarations. Each of the candidates was afforded the opportunity to address Council at the meeting. After hearing from the candidates Council voted by way of open public vote.

During KFBBC’s shut down from March – July, each time one of our members checked in on their Facebook status at our Kincardine Fit Body Boot Camp Location that they completed an at home workout with the hashtag #fbbcfitforhealth we donated 20 cents to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation.
It is one of their core values at FBBC to give back to the community and they believe it’s very important, especially in times like these, that they help out our local care centre. They are extremely grateful that they were able to pivot their business online so quickly and that their members were eager to continue working on their goals at home while also helping out a great cause.

Recent funding commitments could see a first of its kind CT scanner in the Kincardine Hospital as early as next year.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson announced approval in September for SBGHC to proceed with Stage 1 and 2 of the Ministry’s five-stage capital project process for an addition to the Kincardine hospital to house the scanner.
A grant totaling $1,410,000 will cover the construction.
The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation is committed to fund the cost of the scanner…totaling $2.7-million..this includes a $1-million donation from Bruce Power.
The Edge Plus is a new model that has just received approval from Health Canada, and the Kincardine hospital will be one of the first installations of the unit in the Canadian market.

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre has selected the CT scanner model it hopes to have installed at the Kincardine hospital next year.
Earlier this month, the board of directors for the SBGHC chose the Edge Plus CT scanner from Siemens as the model that will be installed at the hospital. It is anticipated that installation will happen in 2021, but a more definitive time is not available as it depends on Ministry of Health approval, a SBGHC spokesperson said Friday.

On Wednesday December 9, the South Bruce Grey Health Centre Kincardine Hospital Auxiliary was pleased to present a cheque for $35,000 to the Kincardine & Community Health Care Foundation. At their meeting in February, the Auxiliary had decided that their equipment to purchase for 2020 would be a $60,000 Spirometry machine for the Diagnostic Imaging Department at our hospital with the option of it being funded over two years. However, with the arrival of this pandemic, most of their fundraising events were curtailed this year and they will need that second year to fulfill their pledge. The Hospital Auxiliary is extremely grateful to the community who have so generously continued to support them this year, and look forward to a brighter 2021.
