The Department of Health in Escambia County, along with other health departments statewide, issued media advisories Friday much to the surprise of Escambia County officials releasing the website information and phone number for each county-specific line through which residents 65 or older and frontline health care workers can make an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
But Escambia County Interim Public Safety Director Eric Gilmore told the News Journal on Friday morning that Escambia County won t be ready for its residents to sign up through the state ShareCare phone system or online system until at least the week after next.

Another 7,391 COVID-19 cases were added according to Sunday s FDOH report. Another 77 deaths were reported, bringing the total to 21,514. Five deaths locally, three in Escambia, one in Okaloosa and one in Walton. No deaths reported in Santa Rosa County.

Santa Rosa added 104 cases and has a 30.21% new case positivity rate
Okaloosa added 36 cases and has a 9.24% new case positivity rate

17,042 Cases Added In Two-Day Post-Christmas Report
The state added 17,042 cases according to Saturday s FDOH report. The report accounts for two days as data was not added on Christmas. The state also added 142 deaths, 12 of which were reported locally. Eight in Okaloosa, one in Santa Rosa and three in Escambia. No deaths reported in Walton County.

The state added 8,401 cases according to Sunday s report. Another 97 deaths were also reported bringing the state s total to 20,861. Tweleve deaths were reported locally with eight in Okaloosa, two in Escambia and two in Santa Rosa County. No deaths reported in Walton County.

Okaloosa added 76 cases and has a 14.02% new case positivity rate

State Adds 11,000-Plus Cases, Over 32,000 Received First Dose Of Vaccine
FDOH reported Saturday an additional 11,682 cases and 74 deaths, two of which were local one in Okaloosa and one in Walton County. No deaths reported in Escambia or Santa Rosa County. According to the state s vaccine summary, 32,707 people have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Florida.
