Fellows Deployed as Part of California Volunteers-Led California Climate Action Corps
January 23, 2021 - SACRAMENTO – Over the last two weeks California Volunteers, Office of the Governor hosted a series of virtual events to welcome the Fellows of the first-ever statewide climate corps in the nation, California Climate Action Corps. Sixty-three Fellows across California will spend nearly eight months advancing climate action projects such as urban tree planting, food sustainability, and wildfire resilience in some of the state’s most vulnerable communities.
During the two-week orientation, Fellows participated in virtual sessions presented by climate experts, community leaders and elected officials. In a recording, Governor Gavin Newsom welcomed the Fellows and thanked them for their commitment to fight climate change.

Carbon Health Launches COVID-19 Vaccination Platform to Accelerate National Rollout

Carbon Health, the technology-enabled healthcare provider, announced today the launch of
Carbon Health Vaccinate, a platform that allows local governments to more efficiently manage vaccine operations, and for any person to easily check their eligibility for a COVID-19 vaccine and sign up for a vaccination appointment. The company also announced its first partnership with the City of Los Angeles and CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) to support the city’s COVID-19 vaccination program, providing management technology, and administrative oversight to help stem the pandemic and increase vaccination capacity in Los Angeles to an additional 20,000 people a day.

The coronavirus testing site at Dodger Stadium will reopen Monday after being closed over the weekend for restructuring in a bid to cut down on traffic, which has drawn complaints from neighborhood residents, officials said.
Long lines of cars could often be seen snaking around the massive drive-through testing site, which the city has described as the largest in the nation, and spilling into adjacent streets.
“We were receiving a few complaints from neighbors in the area that traffic was hindering, on some days, their ability to do daily activities,” said David Ortiz, public information officer for the Los Angeles Fire Department. “So we took that into advisement and planned out with the Dodgers a way to improve the situation.”
