BC Hydro Expects An Increase In Consumption Due To Cold Snap In The Cariboo

Dave Mosure, Community Relations Coordinator for BC Hydro said during a typical winter they record the highest electrical demand between 4 and 8 on weekday evenings.
But since the beginning of the pandemic, Mosure said they’ve been seeing slightly earlier evening peaks and they do have enough power to get through that and the extreme overnight low temperatures.
“We also have a team of engineers in place that monitor the loads and track weather patterns. In BC we’re also very fortunate to have a flexible hydroelectric system that allows us to ramp up quickly if we need more power and as a last resort, we can import power as required.”

Kayla Gross has just begun her appointment as the Inclusion Program Manager for the Department of Computer Sciences at UW-Madison. She is responsible for improving the enrollment, retention, and experiences of female-identified students in the department. The effort is funded by a multi-year grant from the Center for Inclusive Computing.
Gross’s commitment to advancing and improving the experiences of women in the workplace is clearly visible in her career path. She holds a concurrent appointment in Wisconsin’s Equity and Inclusion Laboratory and is earning her Master’s of Science in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at UW-Madison. Her research focuses on the experiences of women in the workplace with a particular focus on the design and delivery of women’s leadership development programs.
Stone named January Senior of the Month

MACOMB Atoa Stone, the son of Brian and Alisi Stone, has been named the MidAmerica National Bank Senior of the Month for January 2021.
Atoa is very involved at school in Marching/Concert Band, Basketball, Tennis and Tech Crew
He has earned honors throughout his high school years, including National Honors Society, Eagle Scout Rank, and the Duty to God Achievement.
Community involvement is also very important to Atoa. He has helped at Helping Hands Volunteer Service, Scouts of America, Church Choir, and as a member of Nauvoo Stake Youth Committee. Hobbies include playing volleyball, reading, listening to music, camping, singing, and spending time with friends and family.

This award, which began in 1991, honors an individual’s dedication and compassion to making a difference for HFSC’s staff, patients, visitors and community.
