SPOKANE, Wash. Students across the Inland Northwest have had to deal with a lot of changes in the past 14 months, with schools switching between virtual learning, bringing students back into classrooms and hybrid models.
Washington and Idaho are both on track to being close or fully reopened by fall, both state s have taken to making recommendations about what education will look like during the next academic year.

CHENEY, Wash. Eastern Washington University announced Thursday it will not require students and staff to get vaccinated for COVID-19 before returning for the fall semester.
The comes after the University of Washington and Washington State University both announced they will require vaccinations to return to classrooms.
In a letter to staff and students, EWU Interim President Dr. David May said, “In the spirit of transparency, we know that the decision to get vaccinated is not one that we can make for you. There are good reasons, religious, medical, and philosophical, why someone may choose not to be vaccinated. WSU students and staff will have to provide proof of the COVID-19 vaccination to engage in activities at a campus or location. All students living in university-owned housing will need to provide proof of vaccination, or approved exemption, by Aug. 6, 2021. Seattle University and Pacific Lutheran University, both in Washington state, will also require that students are fully vaccinated before arriving on campus in the fall.
