Information on the EBB Program Information on the EBB Program On May 12, 2021, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued policy memo SP 12-2021 about the U.S. Department of Education Federal Communication Commission’s Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program. The EBB is a new, temporary Federal program to help eligible families pay for internet service during the pandemic. Households with a child who was approved to receive free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program during the 2019–20 or 2020–21 school year, including children who attend schools participating in the Community Eligibility Provision, are eligible for the EBB Program.

Broadband relief program available

Eligible households are now able to enroll in the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program to receive a monthly discount off the cost of broadband service from an approved provider. The Emergency Broadband Benefit is an FCC program to help families and households struggling to afford internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic. This new benefit will connect eligible households to jobs, critical healthcare services, virtual classrooms and more. The Emergency Broadband Benefit will provide a discount of up to $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price. Eligible households can enroll through an approved provider or by visiting getemergencybroadband.org.

TVS Cable and their parent company, Thacker-Grigsby Communications, announced the grand opening of their new “Broadband Store,” located in the Daniel Boone Plaza last week, and said the TVS Cable company realizes Broadband has become a necessity and therefore sees the need to be more available to their customers. At the new Broadband Store, TVS Cable officials said, they will have customer service reps available to take applications for service, explain all services available, make any changes to a service, take payments, or just answer any questions customers may have.
