A Palmer Township manufacturer of picture frames and decorative molding has invested $1.5 million to power its plant with the energy of the sun.
The installation of the huge solar panel array at MCS Industries at 2280 Newlins Mill Road is nearly complete, according to a MCS Director of Engineering Dallas Kohler. He said it should be operational by May 14.
The roof-mounted solar power system will generate 1.1 megawatts of electricity per year, according to a news release. That will eliminate the emission of 828 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year, the equivalent pollution generated by 167 cars per year.
