Let s wow them again, Kingston: Participate in a special edition of Commuter Challenge!

In 2019, the City of Kingston made national headlines by becoming the Commuter Challenge champion. This May 30 – June 5, let’s come back stronger than ever.
“Thanks to the awesome support of residents, our community had the highest percentage of Commuter Challenge participants in Canada, and the second-highest number of participants in the entire country,” says Tess Wittmann, Community Engagement Specialist at Sustainable Kingston.
“This year, let’s wow Canada again,” she adds.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Commuter Challenge will be a little different, here in Kingston. This Commuter Challenge, participants are encouraged to log their recreational runs, rides, strolls and rolls.

A community-driven process to determine how to measure South Bruce’s willingness to host a deep geological repository (DGR) for used nuclear fuel, was introduced to the Community Liaison Committee (CLC) and the public on Thursday evening.
The Municipality has hired GHD Limited to consult the community on how they would like willingness to be measured. Katrina McCullough, a Community Engagement Specialist with GHD, outlined the consultation process at the meeting.

In 2010, the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) began a process to select a site for a DGR for the long term, safe storage of used nuclear fuel. Out of the 22 communities that expressed interest, South Bruce and Ignace are the two remaining communities that the NWMO is considering for the Project.
