53IB enhances anti-insugency campaign

April 04, 2021 THE Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion (IB) has initiated a community engagement program to further enhance the campaign against the communist New People’s Army (NPA) terrorists in samboanga del Sur. Part of the program is a house-to-house visitation to discuss with the residents matters on peace and order situation of a particular community. On Thursday, April 1, the 53IB team led by Second Lieutenant Kim Kenneth Beloro conducted a house-to-house visitation in Saad village, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur. The activity was held in partnership with Jeffrey Senara, Sr., the village chief of Saad, Dumingag. “The purpose of the activities was to show that the government is taking care of the communities in Barangay Saad, encourage them to support the government, and keep theme informed about the dangers of CPP-NPA (Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army) terrorist recruitment,” Beloro said

(KTVZ) Oregon Housing and Community Services and Oregon Health Authority said Tuesday they are teaming up to address COVID-19-related health inequities through a shared investment in more than 100 community-based organizations around the state. “Health and housing are intimately linked,” said Andrea Bell, OHCS Director of Housing Stabilization. “This program is a critical tool to ensure urgent health needs of people experiencing homelessness and at-risk populations are addressed, including Oregonians disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 from Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Pacific Islander and Tribal Communities.” The organizations were originally funded through OHA by the CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Funds and those funds are set to expire on Dec. 30, 2020.
