KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan confirmed today there are employers allegedly committing fraud to receive funds under the Penjana hiring programme, revealing 340 confirmed cases and over 180 more under investigation.

LUMPUR: Companies or employers applying for the Employment Recruitment Incentives Programme under the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA) are required to submit a statutory declaration (SD) to prevent misuse of the funds.

pix) said the additional condition for the application of the programme, managed by the Social Security Organisation (Socso), was also imposed to prevent employers from making false claims.
“Employers must submit an SD stating the total number of their employees and a stricter action will be taken against them if they are found using a fake SD,” he told a virtual press conference here today.
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): A study has revealed that low-income households were disproportionately affected by the Covid-19 crisis, with women-headed households and households headed by people with disabilities reporting the deepest and most negative impact.
Minister in the Prime Minister s Department for Economic Affairs Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the situation of these groups, however, has improved since the first survey of the study titled Families on the Edge was conducted in May 2020.
Unemployment among heads of households fell from a peak of 25 per cent to 12 per cent while the situation for female heads of household also improved from 32 per cent to 16 per cent.

IPOH: While the parents of K. Nagantheran have accepted his passing early this month, they are still mourning the loss of their only child.
His mother, M. Kalpana, 46, said Nagantheran, 22, was a filial son who was also known for always helping others in need.
“He was a great son who was always there for us.
“After he finished schooling, he started looking for jobs because he did not want to burden us, ” she said when met after receiving aid from the Social Security Organisation (Socso) for his late son at the Perak police contingent headquarters here on Tuesday (May 11).
