Published February 19. 2021 5:04PM  Thank you to The Day for announcing the New London Trees crowdfunding campaign, “New London Trees starts fundraiser for new plantings in the city,” (Dec. 25). The generosity of members of our community exceeded our $5,000 goal making it a TREE-mendous success. Sustainable CT will contribute $6,200 to support our project through their Community Match Fund. We have partnered with the Public Works Department to plant native trees in several locations throughout the city this spring, including species such as oak (Quercus bicolor), pepperidge (Nyssa sylvatica) and tulip (Liriodendron tulipfera). Anyone interested in learning more about caring for our growing urban forest and joining our grassroots efforts, is welcome to contact us at www.newlondontrees.org.

New funding available for community radio stations

New funding available for community radio stations Community radio stations are being given a third chance to apply for a share of £200,000 emergency funding to help them through the Covid-19 crisis. Ofcom administered two rounds of funding earlier this year with grants that provided 111 successful applicants totaling £406,810. These grants were awarded by the Community Radio Fund Panel, independent to Ofcom. Applications are now open for grants of up to £7,500 only. Applicants that have already received funding from any of the £750million Covid-19 Charities Package, including through other government departments, the Community Match Challenge, the Covid-19 Community Support Fund or the Big Night In, will not be eligible to receive this funding.
