VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN): Japan on Wednesday (Jan 20) presented 30 patrol cars worth US$1.92 million to the Ministry of Public Security (Laos) in Vientiane.
The grant aid is being used to provide the Lao government with both anti-terrorism and security enhancement equipment aimed at contributing towards social and economic development in Laos by strengthening their capacity to maintain public security.
The hand-over ceremony was held at the Ministry of Public Security between the Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Vilay Lakhamfong and Japanese Ambassador to Laos Takewaka Keizo.
The Japanese Grant Aid is for the Economic and Social Development Programme for the public security sector in Laos.
Tamasok campaign seeks safe return to schools by providing hygiene stands, kits

AMMAN With the aim of ensuring a safe return to schools, Tamasok campaign (in Arabic cohesion ) distributes hygiene stands and kits to schools in 11 governorates, in addition to orienting teachers on health protocols related to COVID-19.
Implemented by Mercy Corps in partnership with the Network for Social Cohesion and Negotiation Skills, Tamasok campaign aims to increase awareness of school personnel, according to a Mercy Corps statement sent to The Jordan Times.
The campaign also aims to promote hygiene practices among more than 5,400 teachers in target schools, which they would share with students, the statement said.

ISLAMABAD: The government has allowed the private sector to purchase a Covid-19 vaccine, a health ministry official said, as 73 more people succumbed to the coronavirus in Pakistan, while 2,459 more tested positive in a 24-hour-period.
In a conversation with a private news channel on Tuesday, Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination, Dr Nausheen Hamid, said the country’s private companies will be able to purchase the coronavirus vaccine before it reaches the general market, but the firms will have to register with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) following which the “rates will be fixed”.
The Subregional Office for West Africa (SRO-WA) is located in Niamey (the Niger). It is headed by a Director who reports to the Deputy Executive Secretary (Programme).

AMMAN In times of a pandemic, as many sectors are facing threat of closure and the impact of the crisis, Mercy Corps has launched a campaign titled “Ma’assal” to promote local businesses, according to a statement from the international humanitarian organisation.
As a response to the COVID-19 crisis, Mercy Corps has launched “Ma’assal” which translates to long standing origins and roots, and expresses the honour and solid origin of local produce, gearing towards increasing people’s awareness of locally-owned businesses, as well as, supporting their recovery during unprecedented times, according to the statement sent to The Jordan Times on Wednesday.
