Temple Emanu-El, Haverhill, and Congregation Beth Israel of the Merrimack Valley, Andover, are partnering to offer a multi-session course for anyone wishing to gain a deeper understanding of Judaism and Jewish life. The course is taught by Cantor Vera Broekhuysen and Rabbi Rachel Putterman of Temple Emanu-El and Rabbi Howard Mandell of Congregation Beth Israel. It is designed for people from various faiths and cultural backgrounds including those who have had no religious upbringing or are simply curious about Judaism; spiritual seekers; individuals considering conversion; and Jews who want to learn more about the foundations of Judaism.

Broadway musicals return to DSM in 2021-22 Focus Daily News

Broadway musicals return to Dallas Summer Musicals (DSM) this summer to kick off their 2021-22 season. DSM and Broadway Across America (BAA) announce the return of “Wicked” (a subscriber’s special) as the first show Aug. 4-Sept. 5. The revised lineup also includes a return of blockbuster hit “Hamilton.” Texas-based Germania Insurance is the 2021-22 title sponsor. DSM’s regular season starts in October with the Tony and Grammy Award®-winning true-life musical “Jersey Boys” Oct. 19-31. The season continues with “Hamilton,” Nov. 16-Dec. 5. Purchasing a season ticket to all six shows is the best way to guarantee tickets to “Hamilton.”

Four-year-old Maggie Gibson is so proud of her papa Rob Durham’s volunteer work at Sacred Hearts Food Pantry, she wants people to donate food to the pantry instead of giving her gifts for her fifth birthday. Maggie heard about the long lines of people waiting for food and she has also been able to help bring food to people who didn t have a way of getting to the pantry. She asks the public to bring nonperishable food Saturday, Feb. 6, between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., to Sacred Hearts Food Pantry, 48 S. Chestnut St., Bradford.

Haverhill s Second Annual Preschool Resource Fair Takes Place Feb 1-5

Haverhill’s second annual Preschool Resource Fair takes place online during the first week of February. The event by the city’s Early Learning Leadership Team enables families to learn about the many preschool options and resources available. There will be giveaways, fun family activities, presentations from local preschool providers and community organizations, a Curious Creatures show, question and answer time and more. The free online event takes place Monday through Friday, Feb. 1-5, at 7:30 p.m. Those interested must register through Eventbrite to receive a link. Sessions will be recorded and sent to registrants at the conclusion of the fair.
