International Conference on Cyber Security Special Event

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Fordham University hosted a complimentary ICCS Special Event on Thursday, January 28, 2021, as part of the virtual ICCS Speaker Series. FBI Director Christopher A. Wray gave a talk titled The FBI s Strategy for Tackling Cyber Threats in 2021 and Beyond. His remarks were followed by a discussion with Ed Stroz, Founder of Stroz Friedberg, now known as Aon Cyber Solutions, and Matt Gorham, Assistant Director of the FBI’s Cyber Division. The session was moderated by Fordham University President Joseph M. McShane, S.J. We look forward to our next ICCS Speaker Series event in the next few months.

Indian priest appointed member of Pontifical Biblical Commission

ROME: Pope Francis has appointed Society of Jesus priest Henry Pattarumadathil as a member of Pontifical Biblical Commission. Fifty seven-year-old Fr Pattarumadathil, who hails from Kerala in Southern India was ordained as a priest for the Kerala Province of Society of Jesus in 1995. He obtained a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in 2000 and a Doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 2007 . Fr Pattarumadathil served as Associate Professor at the Pontifical  Bible Institute in  Rome from 2013. He was a member of the Kerala Catholic Bishops Conference (KCBC) team for  Malayalam New Testament revision from 2008-2009. He was also Director of studies at the Jesuit Regional Theology Centre in Kalady, Kerala from 2008 to 2010.

The massive size alone of the frontier region, stretching from the upper reaches of the Amazon basin to the headwaters of the Paraná as well as stretching across the lower Southern Cone, meant numerous missionary enterprises emerged in an attempt to evangelize the peoples who inhabited these regions. While small handfuls of Dominicans, Mercedarians, and Augustinians would engage in such efforts, most missions were established by the Jesuits or Franciscans.
