On Covid, SIMI said that car sales are very low risk, but offer a high return to the State in terms of employment and revenue
New figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show that new car registrations for February were up 5.3% to 13,834 compared to the same time last year.
The SIMI figures show that registrations year to date are down 11% on the same time last year.
Today s figures show that used car imports for February 2021 were down 7% on the same time last year. Year to date imports are down 1.84% on 2020, SIMI noted.
Meanwhile, light commercials vehicles are up 51.3% compared to February last year and are up 6.4% so far this year.
