New York state has become the 15th state to legalize marijuana for recreational use, ending a three-year dispute regarding the Schedule I drug’s legal status. The bill, which Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed Wednesday, has impressive provisions that will benefit marginalized community members in New York state.
New York State Sen. Liz Krueger believes that this bill will mend the injustices that drug laws have expedited. “Key provisions of the bill will begin to repair the heavily discriminatory impact that enforcement of prohibition has had on communities of color in New York State,” a press release from the senator states.

What wasn t usually publicised was that New York is the only state where licensing and even training isn t necessarily required to operate light-emitting devices that can cause discoloration, burns or worse. In 44 US states, laser hair removal is considered a medical treatment requiring the supervision of a doctor, nurse or physician assistant (though the person operating the laser can in some cases be unlicensed). In five states, laser hair removal is subject to some other form of regulation. But in New York, it s been the wild west. Now, thanks to a bill proposed this month in the state legislature in Albany, licensing and education requirements may be on the way.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â Family doctors want a role in getting COVID-19 shots in arms.
âThis is an existing infrastructure that already works well, we vaccinate people everyday in our office for many different things, weâve done that for years,â Madejski said.
Dr. Thomas Madejski is an internal medicine physician practicing in Albion and Medina, and a former president of the Medical Society of the State of New York. He said physicians should receive vaccine allocations.
