Britney Dikwa-Nkrumah, the new Engineering Senator for the 2021-2022 school year, is from Logan, Utah and is grateful for the opportunity to be an Aggie.
Her last name, which is pronounced (Dee-kwah Nuh-Chroma), comes from her parents, who are both natives of Ghana, Africa. Her background goes along with part of her platform to increase advocacy and representation for all students.
One thing that sets Britney apart from other USU students is her long-time desire to be an engineer. She found this love for engineering in high school after discovering it was everything she was looking for.
Savannah Hays
MORGANTOWN A first-generation college student from Parkersburg has been named the West Virginia University 2021 Newman Civic Fellow.
Savannah Hays aspires to become a physician-researcher and will use her role to undertake a year-long project to increase access to engineering mentorships for young women in West Virginia. Hays is an Honors biomedical engineering major in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources will help form at least two SWENext chapters, the high school equivalent of the Society of Women Engineers, to serve young women ages 13-17.

Jill Hruby
President Joe Biden nominated Jill Hruby as under secretary for nuclear security and administrator of the Department of Energyâs National Nuclear Security Administration.
Hruby is a mechanical engineer who joined Sandia National Laboratories as a member of the technical staff in 1983 and retired as its director in 2017. She was the first woman to lead a national lab. During her 34 years at Sandia, Hruby held roles related to nuclear weapons systems and component design, nuclear non-proliferation, defense and homeland security technologies and systems, renewable energy, materials science, engineering sciences, and microsystems technology.
