An official in the Cook County State s Attorney s Office resigned after an investigation into in-court statements made by a prosecutor suggesting 13-year-old Adam Toledo had a gun when he was killed by Chicago police in March.
Staff were informed Wednesday that First Assistant State s Attorney Jennifer Coleman resigned, spokeswoman Sarah Sinovic confirmed in an email to USA TODAY. The resignation comes after a breakdown of communication that led to misleading statements being made in court in early April, according to a report released Wednesday.

CHICAGO - The Cook County State s Attorney s Office has concluded an internal investigation into the prosecutor who made statements in court implying 13-year-old Adam Toledo had a gun in his hand when he was fatally shot in March.
In a statement Wednesday announcing the conclusion of its review, the state s attorney office said the investigation found the statements made by prosecutor James Murphy in bond court on April 10 were inartful , but that Murphy did not intend to make such an implication.

The bill would establish both a COINTELPRO Records Collection and a Review Board and eradicate J. Edgar Hoover’s name from FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Hoover, leader of the FBI from 1924-1972, was the principal public official who conceived of and implemented the COINTELPRO operation, and he was famously depicted in the motion picture film
Illinois Man Charged With Intentionally Driving Truck Into Chicago Picnic, Injuring Woman

A Chicago man was charged with attempted murder on Monday after police said he intentionally drove his truck into a picnic gathering over the weekend, injuring at least two victims.
Timothy Nielsen, 57, was arrested Saturday and faces charges of attempted murder after he intentionally jumped a curb in his vehicle and drove at a group of pedestrians gathered for a picnic, according to the Chicago Police Department.
During the incident, Nielsen hit a 42-year-old woman with his truck, causing her to be briefly trapped underneath the vehicle. The woman was injured and has since been released from a nearby hospital, where she was treated for lacerations and other injuries, police said Monday. Anther victim was treated at the scene.
